Project Profile

SPFD Energy Management

Location: Spokane, Washington

The SPFD Energy Management project, located in Spokane, Washington, focuses on energy efficiency in buildings over 50,000 square feet. This initiative encompasses four buildings, including the new Podium Building. EEI’s involvement in the project was pivotal, utilizing tools like ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager to input building information provided by the owner to establish the Energy Use Intensity (EUI). EEI also played a crucial role in developing a preliminary Energy Management Plan, defining roles within the owner’s team, and guiding them through the necessary steps post-benchmarking to align with state-mandated Target Energy Use Index (EUI) and comply with the Clean Buildings Performance Standard (CBPS), also known as House Bill 1257 (HB1257). The project’s aim was to assist building owners in meeting energy efficiency standards.

During our ongoing collaboration with SPFD, it was determined that EEI would undertake an Existing Building Commissioning initiative at the convention center to support SPFD in achieving their Energy Use Intensity (EUI) target. This project is nearing completion of its initial investigation phase and is projecting a significant 13% reduction in energy consumption for the client. Furthermore, EEI has established a close partnership with the local utility to enhance their rebate programs, positioning SPFD to maximize their rebate benefits. These rebates are expected to cover the project costs and provide additional dollars,, ensuring a financially advantageous outcome for SPFD.
