The Allen Institute for Brain Science (Allen Institute) is a recognized leader in large-scale research with a commitment to share all they learn openly with the world. The Allen Institute laboratory building is a 270,000 SF facility with research laboratories, lab support spaces, a data center, an auditorium, retail space, offices, and office support spaces, including meeting rooms. The building is six stories with site parking provided below grade with a mechanical penthouse.

EEI commissioned systems for the Allen Institute in compliance with the requirements for LEED Gold certification. The project achieved LEED Gold certification for New Construction (LEED 2009). The Allen Institute was also the 2016 Engineering New Record (ENR) best “Higher Education/Research” project – Northwest Region.

EEI commissioned a large variety of systems for this project, including: Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Lab systems, Lighting controls, Generator, and CO2/NO2 monitoring.
