Project Profile

Albuquerque International Sunport Renovation

Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico

The Albuquerque International Sunport is undergoing a comprehensive $87 million renovation project aimed at enhancing safety, security, and passenger experience. The project, led by Jaynes Corporation as the Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR), encompasses approximately 600,000 square feet of the three-level facility, including 22 gates across two main concourses. The renovation will significantly expand food, beverage, and retail spaces while modernizing critical infrastructure.

As the commissioning agent for this project, EEI is responsible for verifying the proper installation, operation, and performance of various building systems. Our scope includes commissioning of mechanical systems such as air handling units, rooftop units, terminal units, pumps, and exhaust fans; electrical systems including service and distribution, and lighting controls; plumbing systems like domestic hot water and cold-water distribution; and the Building Management System (BMS) as it relates to the commissioned equipment.

EEI’s commissioning process involves a comprehensive set of activities designed to meet the owner’s requirements for quality and durability. These activities include reviewing project designs, developing and implementing the Commissioning Plan, confirming incorporation of commissioning requirements into construction documents, creating construction checklists and functional test procedures, verifying system test execution, maintaining an Issues Resolution Log, and preparing the final Commissioning Report. Additionally, EEI will review contractor submittals, verify operator training, conduct seasonal testing, and review building operations 10 months after substantial completion to ensure optimal performance of all commissioned systems.
