Project Profile

NMSU Agriculture Building

Location: Las Cruces, New Mexico

The New Mexico State University Agriculture Building project is an investment in advancing agricultural research and education at NMSU. The new facilities will provide state-of-the-art resources to support the university’s land-grant mission of teaching, research, and extension.

The project comprises two new buildings – the Food Science, Security and Safety Center and the Animal Nutrition and Feed Manufacturing Facility.

The Food Science, Security and Safety Center houses six advanced laboratories that will enable cutting edge research in areas such as functional foods, nutraceuticals, food processing, dairy technology, and minimizing water usage in food production.

The Animal Nutrition and Feed Manufacturing Facility consolidates NMSU’s livestock education and research enterprise, giving students, researchers, and industry stakeholders ample space to investigate novel feedstuffs and processing methods to improve livestock health and productivity. Over 80% of the courses in the Department of Animal and Range Sciences will utilize this new feed mill.

EEI performed the commissioning services for this project, verifying that the building systems were installed and performing as intended. This included reviewing construction documents, developing testing procedures, conducting functional testing, and providing a final commissioning report to document the process. These new facilities will be a “game changer” for NMSU’s College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences, directly benefiting student education, supporting critical food and agricultural research, and facilitating workforce training for the industry.
