DENVER – Oct. 12, 2026 – EEI Building Performance announced today that its team will deliver one technical presentation and two project poster presentations at the Building Commissioning Association’s 2026 Annual Conference, Oct. 21–23 at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre in Vancouver, British Columbia. The conference theme, “It Takes All of Us: The Power of Commissioning Collaboration,” will highlight collaboration and knowledge sharing across the commissioning industry.
On Thursday, Oct. 22, from 2:45–3:45 p.m., Jeff Nichols, PE, BCxP, CEM, LEED® AP, will present “Commissioning VRF Systems with R-32: Leak Detection and Alarm Testing.” The session will examine commissioning considerations for Variable Refrigerant Flow systems using R-32 refrigerant, with an emphasis on leak detection, alarm testing, safety, code compliance and building automation integration.
EEI will also present two projects during the conference’s poster session on Thursday, Oct. 22. Morgan Nishida will present the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Inpatient Hospital Tower in Columbus, Ohio, a 1.8 million-square-foot, 26-story facility where EEI completed 3,903 functional performance tests and resolved 2,352 of 2,364 commissioning issues. Scott Usselman will present the Pasco School District Portfolio Existing Building Commissioning program in Pasco, Washington, which spans more than two million square feet across 25 schools and a support facility. The program uses benchmarking, facility audits and EEI’s BalanceCx analytics platform to prioritize corrective actions and support operational improvements.
“This year’s theme reflects how we approach commissioning, bringing owners, operators, designers, contractors and technical specialists together to solve complex performance challenges,” said Blake Hickok, CEO and president of EEI Building Performance. “Jeff, Morgan and Scott bring practical insight from three very different applications, and we look forward to sharing what we have learned with commissioning professionals from across the industry.”
The poster presentations are part of the BCxA Commissioning Excellence Awards program and demonstrate how collaborative, data-informed commissioning can improve performance in both health care and K-12 facilities. Award recipients will be announced during the conference.
EEI is also the dinner sponsor for the conference’s opening event on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at Grouse Mountain. Buses will depart the conference hotel at 5 p.m. for the Annual Membership Meeting and dinner, which will bring members and nonmembers together to connect with colleagues from across the commissioning community in one of Vancouver’s most distinctive settings.
